For his Fall-Winter 2026 Couture collection, Passage Privé, Saiid Kobeisy draws inspiration from the elegance and cultural richness of the early twentieth century — an era of artistic exchange, exceptional craftsmanship and refined sophistication. Conceived as a journey through shifting perspectives, the collection explores the idea of transformation: how every passage, every encounter and every experience can change the way we see ourselves.
This spirit of movement and discovery is reflected in the designer’s approach to couture, where tradition and contemporary vision meet through intricate craftsmanship and a strong sense of individuality. From architectural precision to fluid silhouettes, Passage Privé continues Saiid Kobeisy’s exploration of what couture can be today — a deeply personal expression of artistry, identity and timeless beauty.
We sat down with Saiid Kobeisy to discuss the enduring influence of Art Deco, the art and craftsmanship behind his creations, the challenges facing a new generation of designers, the importance of understanding the client, and his vision for the future of the house.
Tatiana: There was a strong Art Deco influence in your collection this season. I also noticed that many other designers seemed to interpret Art Deco in their own way during this Couture Week. Why do you think this aesthetic is so present right now? Is it simply something that is in the air?
Saiid Kobeisy: Exactly. You are right — and, by the way, you are not the only one who noticed it! For me, Art Deco is something that I like to explore through patterns, particularly in our embellishments and embroidery. You can see it especially in some of the larger gowns, where we play with repetitive geometric motifs and combine them with intricate embroidery.
Tatiana: For me, Art Deco has a certain sense of minimalism. Of course, it is not minimalist in the same way as Japanese design, but there is still a certain simplicity and purity to its geometry.
Saiid Kobeisy: Yes, it is not necessarily very opulent. And you can interpret it in different ways. It depends on the dress and on the effect you want to create. You can make it very bold, or you can keep it simple. The same language can be used in very different ways.
Tatiana: What is Haute Couture for you?
Saiid Kobeisy: Everything unique that you can see.
Tatiana: Let’s dive a little deeper into the collection. If you had to choose one favourite look – one of your “babies” – which one would it be?
Saiid Kobeisy: I really cannot choose just one. Every piece is special to me. Each one has its own artistic vision and represents a creation that took my time and energy.
Tatiana: Then let me ask you differently: which look was the most complicated to create, or perhaps took the longest to complete?
Saiid Kobeisy: Actually, the green dress you saw – the one underneath – was quite complicated. The cut, the structure, the selection of fabrics and the way we combined them all required a lot of work.
Tatiana: And what about the embroidery? How much time does something like that take?
Saiid Kobeisy: The embroidery can take around three months to complete. Everything is done by hand.
Tatiana: You also presented several men’s looks in the collection. Tell us a little bit about them.
Saiid Kobeisy: Yes. In every collection, we usually present between three and five men’s looks. This season, for example, you can see a combination of velvet and satin, with a lot of embroidery. Another look is made in cashmere. We like to explore different materials and textures within the collection.
Tatiana: And can women wear these pieces as well?
Saiid Kobeisy: Of course. It also depends on the cut, but yes, they can.
Tatiana: What advice would you give to a young designer who is just starting out in the fashion industry?
Saiid Kobeisy: It is quite tough for newcomers, especially because the times are difficult. At the same time, I think a lot depends on how you look at it. If you have a big dream, you have to keep going. Whatever stage you have to go through, you have to pass it in order to reach your dream.
Tatiana: And what about clients? How important is it for a designer to keep the client in mind? Or should you simply create whatever comes into your head?
Saiid Kobeisy: You definitely have to think about the client, of course. The client is very important.
Tatiana: Finally, what can we expect from you next? Where will we see the next runway show?
Saiid Kobeisy: Hopefully, in January.
Tatiana: So, a runway show in January – and then you will probably enter the official calendar the season after?
Saiid Kobeisy: Hopefully.
Tatiana: I really, really wish you that. And I am looking forward to seeing it.
