Jean Paul Gaultier PAP SS2012

Oct 24, 11 Jean Paul Gaultier PAP SS2012

«Comme il faut» is the phrase I want to use to describe the show of Jean-Paul Gaultier. It is so difficult to understand what is truly “proper”, essential and fashionable … but Gaultier as no one else knows how to express with his talent, that this is it – the great indisputable art. His designs are works of art that must be exposed to teach the people to the beauty.

At the Spring-Summer 2012 show we find ourselves in the studio of maestro. Hangers, costumes, dresses, staff: all within a reach of a hand. And if desired, it was even possible to touch the models as they strolled among the invited guests of the fashion house Gaultier.

Watching the girls passing by, I thought of “gangsteritos”, but in a female and modern incarnation. They did not carry weapons but wore striped suit, rolled shorts, perfect shirts, waistcoats and tight pencil skirts. Broad blue coat can be worn directly on the body and it becomes a part of trouser ensemble.

Nude-coloured blouses and tights are completely transparent but feature prints that are almost indistinguishable from tattoos. Double pants from flowing jersey, a white cloak with a thin orange waistband, colour-rich costumes, orange sun-dress, an elegant headscarf, it all just screams “I own this world, and just so” and I could not argue or object . C’est comme il faut.

Please note that this article is covering a prêt-à-porter collection of a couture designer.
