Elie Saab SS2011
Too beautiful to be true.
The talent of a contemporary designer is determined by his ability to surprise and change. Collections, repeating one another from season to season, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste “I’ve seen this somewhere before” – a trap into which it is fairly easy to fall into in fashion.
Last Haute Couture season Elie Saab came perilously close to repeating himself, therefore subjecting his new collection to a particular strictness of the critics.
The stronger the effect turned out.
Fabulously beautiful, airy and light, freshly young – the new collection of Elie completely destroys all the possible stereotypes: it’s the spring itself, embodied in tissues and forms.
A woman of Elie Saab combines opposites: strong character and fragility, creates a captivating image, which is impossible to resist.
Open shoulders, surrounded by gentle laces, accented subtle waist, belted with a tone-to-tone grosgrain ribbon, gives a royal grace to the silhouette.
Deep neckline and sheer multi-layering of long cocktail dresses gives place to short tapered dress with voluminous skirts, embroidered with flower petals.
And no hint of heavy drapes of the past “theatrical” season!
Spring rhymes with youth, finding its reflection in bouquets of wildflowers, which the designer interprets in tulle, organza and muslin.
The colour palette is borrowed from the Impressionists: sensual tea rose, wood violet, green anise and cream chalk.
The top of the glamour: the black evening gown entirely embroidered in black onyx, featuring a bustier sliced open with a deep central cut and closing the silhouette with a striking trail.
Luxury unchangingly remains the basic element of the fashion house style.
